Dental Emergencies

At the ProDent Group we are committed to accommodating all your dental needs in a timely manner.

If you are experiencing a MEDICAL emergency, please dial 911.

If you are experiencing a dental emergency during regular business hours, please call one of our offices. We will make every effort to accommodate you immediately.

If you are experiencing a dental emergency after regular business, please call our offices and follow the instructions on our after-hours voicemail message. One of our doctors will call you back promptly to answer your questions and to arrange for any necessary treatment.

In the meantime, follow the information below for guidance and homecare techniques for dealing with common dental emergencies, or visit the American Dental Association’s website for more emergency information.

Bitten Lip or Tongue

Clean the area gently with a cloth and apply cold compresses to reduce any swelling. If the bleeding doesn’t stop, go to a hospital emergency room immediately. If once the bleeding is controlled, call us for an emergency appointment immediately.

Cracked or Broken Tooth

Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the area. Use cold compresses on the area to keep any swelling down. If you have no pain, you can schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience (but within a few days) If experience pain or discomfort, call us for an emergency appointment immediately.

Jaw-Possibly Broken

Apply cold compresses to control swelling. Go to a hospital emergency department immediately.

Knocked Out Tooth

Hold the tooth by the crown and rinse off the root of the tooth in water if it’s dirty. Do not scrub it or remove any attached tissue fragments. If possible, gently insert and hold the tooth in its socket. If that isn’t possible, put the tooth in a cup of milk and call us for an emergency appointment as quickly as possible. Remember to bring the tooth with you!

Objects Caught Between Teeth

Try to gently remove the object with dental floss; avoid cutting the gums. Never use a sharp instrument to remove any object that is stuck between your teeth. If you can’t dislodge the object using dental floss, contact us for an emergency appointment.

Toothache

Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean it out. Gently use dental floss or an interdental cleaner to ensure that there is no food or other debris caught between the teeth. Never put aspirin, alcohol, or any other painkiller against the gums near the aching tooth because it may burn the gum tissue. If the pain persists, contact us for an emergency appointment.

In addition to accepting all major credit cards, we have the following financing options available. Our Treatment Coordinator is an expert on financing and she will be glad to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to call or e-mail her at any time.

We are pleased to offer a variety of financing options for our patients. Each provider offers individual benefits which can include zero percent interest for up to 24-months, no initial payment required, no pre payment penalty and low monthly payment options. Applying is quick and easy. Our Treatment Coordinator will help you with your application, submit it for you and have a credit decision almost immediately.

At ProDent Group we work with most insurance companies to help you maximize your benefits and get the most out of your coverage. There’s no need for you to fret or fuss over complicated forms – as a courtesy to you, we process and file all of your claims electronically. Additionally, for patients insured through MetLife, Guardian, Cigna, Delta Premier, Assurant, United, we accept direct assignment of benefits. If you participate with one of these plans there will generally be no out-of-pocket expenses beyond your deductibles and co-insurance.

What To Expect On Your First Visit

Together they will take the time to get to know you, hear your concerns, answer your questions, and review your medical history.

Following your exam, your doctor(s) will take time to review your medical and dental history, as well as the results of your exam. They will then develop a personalized continuing care and/or treatment plan to help you achieve your optimal oral health. For more involved cases, we’ll invite you back for a complimentary consultation to review your plan.

As dental professionals, we pride ourselves in taking the time to educate our patients and to assist them in coming to informed decisions regarding their own course of treatment.
